imported some footage 1920x1080 shot on a Canon T2i, 1:1 MXF. 

My system is having a real hard time playing the footage back. It gets jittery after about 1 second. 

System specs: 

Windows 7 64 bit Pro

Dual Opteron, AMD 2.6

GeForce 8800 GTX

120 GB SSD system drive

1 TB storage drive

8 GB DDR3 RAM

Anything I can do to help this out? 

Media on a network-attached drive is from an EX1. Normally, we AMA link to the media and transcode to DnxHD120 to a faster nas. For this show, there was insufficient storage space on the nas to do this, so transcode was to EX35. Sequence was cut using this media. What is the most efficient workflow to get the sequence to be all DnxHD120, as the online editor says he requires the media to be DnxHD120 for the online to proceed?

If I receive interlaced DV footage but set my project format to 25p (instead of 25i) and capture or import it into my prject, does that automatically deinterlace it for me?

Was working on an MC 5 Mojo SDI set up today. Was wondering a few things about how it would be set up. It was such a mess and a tight squeeze around the back that I didnt dare explore.

1) How would you connect the mixer (just for audio preview and not mixing) and the PPM's

2) There was aslo a dsr deck permanatly set up. When capturing I was able to preview with sound and video. I was also able to monitor AV when laying off. But when I spooled the tape back to check it I was only able to preview video and no sound (there was sound there because bouncing levels were present). What's the deal with this set up.

3) I was also able to preview my timeline when editing on the monitor. Is it possible I required the deck to be on in order to do this?

Red segment mode to select a clip or multiple clips in the timeline to move around. Usually it works but sometimes it just refuses to move them. Can anyone think of a scenario of why this might happen? I've tried sync locks on and off. Couldn't really think of anything else. Please help.

Hi All

I have a set of clip where the image has a lot of "noise" which loooks a bit like film grain. If you look at the attached wmv you'll see what I mean. This was shot under non ideal light conditions, so I'm wondering if that is the reason, When I use CC to improve the gain/contrast it becomes even worse (not really suprising)

1) Am I right that this was because of the low light conditions ?

2) How can I avoid it - apart from adding more light 

3) Can I fix it in MC ? Perhaps a bit of blur ?

I am running MC v5.0.4 on a PC and I am having no luck configuring the deck.  Please help if you can.

An editor of ours wants to create an audio effect whereby the audio appears to come to a quick stop in the vain of a record player coming to a stop or a quarter inch tape being turned off.  A quick slowing down and stopping with the resulting change in pitch.  Can anyone think of a way to do this within Avid?  The time shift plugin doesn't allow you to keyframe so i can't think of any other way to do it?  Any ideas?

I have a Sony HVR Z7U Camera. I've shot some SD videos to a flash card - AVI files.  Today, I successfully imported a few to MC 6, however, suddenly one didn't work. And then none of them would import - even the ones that DID import before - with this message: "The file fomat of [file name].avi is not supported for import". After a full reboot, I was able to import one video, but then the same problem again.

Just now  I shot some more test footage and was successfully able to import it all.  It seems arbitrary - which as you all know in the video production world is the kiss of death.

Adobe Premiere imports all the clips just fine with no problems, so they are not corrupt. Windows media player plays them fine too.

Thoughts?

I want to do a stopmotionvideo on my avid media composer. My problem is that i can't find where i can set up the duration for single images.

When i am in the bin-window, i can go to "import" and then to "image", but there you can choose the duration for images only in seconds and i need to choose a few frames (2-3) for every image. I also know that I can import my images directly into the bin - than all the images are 1 frame but i need to change that.
If anyone has got the solution let me know - Being new in the avid media composer-programm, I'm trying to solve this problem since three days...
