Hi,
I have been trying to find out how to mount AVID ISIS workspaces without logging in to the client computer.

The purpose of mounting the ISIS workspace is to allow reference movies to work.

I am basically asking does the ISIS client run as a service?
How is this achieved?

From the ISIS Client Guide:
(Windows) If your ISIS system is configured to use the Windows user name and password for your local system, select OS Login. By default, the Username and Password text boxes are inactive when you select this option.

I was wondering if this is a clue?

Hi guys. sorry for the question if it sounds too silly as I am new on Avid. 

I had some files linked in a project that I just jumped in the middle and I don't know if they were used on the timeline or not. 

I would like to make those linked files be imported to be sure they are stored all together. 

Here comes the questios. 

If I delete the linked files from the bin will the references on the timeline be deleted or just become offline? 

If I delete them from the bin and after import, will my cuts on timeline automatically become online again? Will the software realize that they are the same files ?

Have issues with Unity when using Adobe applications. I'm seeing it mostly with PhotoShop and After Effects. Seeing this with multiple version of the apps, from CS4 up to CS 6. It all really started after making the move to 10.7. 

 

The issues that I'm seeing are with PhotoShop, when saving a .psd file to a Unity Workspace, while doing the save, PS will become upresponsive, and I'll have to force quit. After this, and application accessing a Unity workspace also becomes unresponsive, including MC or Symphony, and I have to force quite those as well. Afterwards, I Have to restart the CPU by holding donw the power Button on the CPU to restart. After restarting the CPU, the .psd file is corruptued and can no longer be opened. 

 

In AE, seeing it frequently become unrespnsive when opening a larger project that has it project file and elements saved on a a Unity Workspace. I'll then see the smae things tht I saw in PhotoShop.

Again, this all started after Upgrading to 6.0, along with taking the OS to 10.7. 

 

Anyone else seeing this or have any thought on what might be able to fix it.

It's been a while since I have done a broadcast truck style gig (years actually).  Can you give me some tips or point me to a good read on the Unity and ISIS systems as far as workflow and things to watch out for?  Any tips would be appreciated and if there is something already here I missed a pointer would be great.  TGIF!

With a Mac Pro refresh still unconfirmed, the holy grail in our shop would be a Thunderbolt to FC adapter for connection to our Unity 5.1. Plug into current i7 iMac, and presto, modern Mac, older storage.

Is this a fantasy? Or are the FC-41ES card drivers just too specific for the Mac Pro?

Hello all.

I have bumped my head on a App Problem here.

Seems updating to ISIS 4.0 kill AE CS5 from launching.
AE CS5 hangs on "Initializing MediaCore".

AE CS5.5 will launch fine.

Problem exist in Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and Lion (10.7.3).

ISIS client 3.5 was working fine - but now my engines are on 4.0 the 3.5 client is no longer an option.

removing the ISIS 4.0 client will allow AE 5 to launch.

Thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a show currently running ISIS 5000. On one of our uprez drives we keep getting the error "error occured loading database." So, this is causing many issues relinking or using the media tool. I'm assuming this is corrupt media, since we've killed the database files and even created a new drive, and moved all media over- but the problem remains the same. Any idea how I would locate corrupted media if the media tool is refusing to work?

I am new to Avid and have been flying by the seat of my pants.  I thought that I had a pretty good grasp on how the database files work in the Avid Media Folder until I ran across someone elses post.  In his post he said that Media Manager takes place of those database files?  If that's the case how do I fix the dreaded media offline problem (when I know the media is there?)

I am running Media Manager 4.5.13

Apple seems to be gradually improving FCP X so that someday maybe it will have the necessary professional features we need.  Does anyone know if Avid has any FCP X compatability plans for its ISIS systems?

This is my first posting as a customer. I will assume that it is ok to add a single introductory post - but if I am incorrect then I would beg the forum administrator to show mercy on me? :)

I work at WFXT in Dedham MA - Channel 25. It is a long standing channel where I used to watch 'Buck Rogers' and 'Battlestar Galactica' on UHF back in the 70's or 80's.

We have Interplay Production version 2.4, and we have ISIS 7000 with new chassis, new switches, and old i500 drives which we are swapping out this summer with the new i4000 Yay us!

We have about 40 newsroom systems, a dozen editors, mostly newscutter, and a promos dept with the symphony and media composer systems.

Well that's about it - hope to read the forums and interact with y'all at some point. Thanks for having me.
